SPEAKER – UnitedState Representative John Culberson – It is time for TFIR to hear again from this representative who has fought tenaciously to protect our borders. There is concern that another amnesty will be passed during the lame duck session between the election and the new congress. What can we do? Come hear John Culberson on our current DC situation. ________________________________________________________________
President’s Message
Dear TFIR Members:
So much to write about so little time and space.
TFIR lost one of our dearest and most valuable members, Pat Mancuso. She was a founding member and no one ever worked harder to preserve our nation. She was an immigrant from Canada and took her responsibilities as a citizen very seriously. She telephoned, walked the streets handing out fliers, talked people into making donations, and worked tirelessly as our legislative chairman. She was plagued by osteoporosis for such a long and painful time. Not many take this immigration issue as seriously as Pat did. She was working before people became aware of how destructive it is to the survival of our country.I shall miss our phone conversations and the latest news she brought from around the nation. She was an American patriot and the type of legal immigrant we need.
There is a change in the structure of our board.Because I need to help my son with his rehabilitation I can no longer serve as President. The board wants me to take a leave of absence rather than resigning. My son is better and hopefully I will bring him home next week. After a period of rehabilitation at home I hope to have him participate as an out-patient at the Texas Institute of Rehabilitation.
Ardell Barr, our Vice President, who brought us all those wonderful speakers is moving on September 13 to Florida. Please let her know how much you appreciate all she has done for Texans for Immigration Reform, Inc.Her dedication and commitment has been remarkable and I could not have functioned without her counsel and support. She is always aware of the current news and presented us with the latest speakers, just recentlywe had Senator Russell Pearce of AZ who has as legal counsel Judicial Watch. Chris Farrell of JW was our last speaker. What a jewel Ardell has been, not only getting the speakers but making all the arrangements for their travel and lodging!
Larry Korkmas has very kindly consented to become the Vice President and function as President. We are fortunate to have such a fine capable leader to step forward at this time. Please give Larry your support. His enthusiasm and knowledge will take us far and smooth the transition over this bump in the road. With the conflict over the Mosque being built near the 911 site I believe we need to be cautious about being subjected to a guilt trip on tolerance toward the intolerant.
A college history professor of mine (1948), a retired officer from
Foreign Service in the Middle East, emphasized that the next major conflict would be in the Middle East.He knew the cultural clash was coming. We are confronting a religious group that does not believe in freedom for women nor in our form of government.Sharia law and our Constitution do not mix. When the Church of England’s Archbishop of Canterbury made his statement about accepting some Sharia law I was deeply concerned about his lack of awareness of his own country’s history and contribution to modern civilization. If you do not know history you are destined to repeat it.The history of the Muslim religion is to take by force symbols like churches and make those shrines theirs.Unless there is some bending by American Muslims on demands that are compatible with our historical foundations only one of two things will happen. They will take us over or we will stand firm and prevail with our republic form of constitutional government. A democracy is majority rule and does not protect minorities.
Last week the King of Saudi Arabia took away women’s rights to work as cashiers in a department store. He cratered to the demands of religious fundamentalists. What happens when this more moderate king is replaced by another family member? The Shah of Iran was replaced by a fundamentalist, the Grand AyatollahRuhollah Moosavi Khomeini, who took Iran back years in progress as a modern nation. Khomeini killed more people in one year when he came to power than the Shah did in the lifetime of his reign. More people die in “peacetime” than in war!
