Meeting Saturday, February 12, 10 AM to 12 PM.

Tracy Gee Community Center - 3599 Westcenter Drive; Houston TX 77042

(Westcenter Drive intersects Richmond, one block east of Beltway 8; turn south)

SPEAKER – Texas Representative Jim Murphy, District 133, will be speaking this month on the 2011 Texas Legislature.
Do not miss this update on what is happening in
Austin.

President’s Message:

There are times when I would like to write about the other issues that do not pertain to immigration and this month is certainly one of those times. With the protests in the Middle East, there is an urgency to know just what is happening, and our hope is that the situation will be handled well. I chose not to write about other issues because realistically speaking, each of them would take more time and research than I can possibly do. That said, I do hope that all of you realize that the other issues are as important to our nation as immigration, and many of them may affect immigration. Fortunately, we now have groups which can address these issues.

I urge you to find time to attend a Tea Party Group or become more involved with your political party and express your wishes. You can be an activist in these other areas and can exchange ideas in order to be well informed. Immigration, both legal and illegal, is still, in my opinion, the Trojan horse that will change our country and its constitutional republic forever.  Perhaps the group near you does not think exactly the way you do. Can you, without being a polarizing individual, change some of their beliefs or incorporate those which you may find you did not really fully comprehend? An open mind is not a sieve through which all thoughts just pass, but also is it is not a tunnel which only accepts a rigid viewpoint. Without careful evaluation you are merely parroting the beliefs of others.

Last month when Representative Debbie Riddle spoke, she mentioned her book. It is a welcome primer on what an activist should know and do in these trying times. It is a quick read and well worth the short time it takes. I became an even greater fan of hers upon reading it.

With the weather now no longer a threat, I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting at Tracy Gee when Representative Jim Murphy will be speaking. With our Texas legislature now in session, there is much to be done and time to stay on top of the Texas agenda in the statehouse. We are so fortunate that these elected officials give us their valuable time. Please do come and show Representative Murphy how much TFIR members want to know what is going on.

The present board has much in store for you this year. We need your active support. Be a part of TFIR this year.

We welcome the renewal of your membership which makes it possible to bring such great speakers.

We were in the forefront last year with speaker Arizona Senator Russell Pearce, author of AZ 1070, the zinger of all states’ legislation, which effectively puts that state in charge of their own immigration enforcement. It mimics federal law which has not been enforced.  Did you know that TFIR arranged a luncheon meeting for him with several Texas elected officials last year when he came to speak to TFIR?  The officials had an opportunity to discuss with Senator Pearce the Arizona legislation which has become such a focal point in the country. We gave the elected officials their privacy as we believed they could speak more openly without our being there.

A GREAT BOOK – FULL OF INFORMATION

The New Case Against Immigration, Both Legal and Illegal, by Mark Krikorian, Sentinel, 2008. ISBN 1595230351, has a chapter entitled, “Mass Immigration Versus American Sovereignty.” Mass assimilation is now of great concern as it presents a serious challenge to our nation’s sovereignty in ways you may not know about.

Mark Krikorian is the executive director of the Center for Immigration

Studies. He may be the nation’s most frequently quoted immigration expert.

Sovereignty is a nation’s determining control of the destiny of the nation with the existing form of government and culture. If that culture and, in our case, our republic form of government, changes to that of the wishes or infiltration of another nation or group of nations, we are no longer sovereign. We become another type of nation without the culture and values we have previously preserved.

With mass immigration, other nations expand their influence by the numbers.  Countries which have large numbers of immigrants, legal and illegal, migrating to another nation can destroy the invaded country’s culture!

·        Canada sends few immigrants to the United States.

·        The immigration of 10 percent or more of Mexico’s adult population is increasing the growth of that culture into the United States. Mexican officials are responsible for changes in the U.S. of almost every aspect of our nation, i.e. schools, hospitals, courts, politics, police, border, etc..

·        Mexican consulates – 56 consulates or agencies in U.S. (more than any other country in the world.)

·        A Mexican citizen as head of Texas Border & Mexican Affairs (the branch of Texas government which once negotiated for Texas water rights with Mexico. Now done through a NAFTA judge in Canada!)

·        Mexico has more immigrants than next ten countries combined by 2%

·        Mexico sends representatives from its consulates in the U.S. to encourage sanctuary cities.

·        The Mexican Ambassador General to Houston announced at his Houston UN welcoming cocktail party (with complete power point presentation) that the border between the two countries would soon be open and mentioned its inevitability and how wonderful it will be. )

·        We are now citizens of the world; post modern society, etc.

·        Huge transnational companies with no loyalty to any nation.

·        Permanent use of Spanish by Hispanic population and conflicts as to which will be the first language.

·        Permanent large Spanish language media - precludes the necessity of learning English.

·        Immigrants argue that Spanish is the international language.

·        Dual citizenship problems - 80% of immigrants come from countries with dual citizenship.

·        Possibility of extraterritoriality – concept in international law by which foreigners get exemptions from local laws.

·        Internet and other technology systems encourage  more bonding to the native country than to the new one – no severing of past ties or loyalties

·        Mexicans, Hispanics and other nations harboring of hostility to the United States cause a further cause of loss of sovereignty.

These are things to think about in regard to the continued mass migration from Hispanic countries. Mexico now refers not just to Mexicans but fosters the responsibility of defending all Hispanic people. Hispanic countries now are under the umbrella of Mexico. Dealing with a nation that cannot protect its own citizens will mean chaos for us as this threat increases and creates more confusion.

FROM TOM TANCREDO

The new “Tea Party” Congress presents those of us who believe in securing our borders against the scourge of illegal immigration with a tremendous opportunity to force a fundamental and long overdue reform in our immigration law…a reform that will directly reduce the number of illegals flooding over our southern border.

Top of our agenda is to end the crisis of “anchor babies” caused by a faulty interpretation of the 14thAmendment.

For decades now, illegal aliens have crept across our southern borders specifically to give birth here and thereby give that baby automatic U.S. citizenship.  (A sleazy baby delivery cottage industry called “birth tourism” has grown up along our southern border to facilitate this scheme.)

After birth, this new “citizen” becomes an “anchor” in this country, making it easier for other family members to stay in the United States, since it is Obama’s policy not to deport the parents of “anchor babies.”

Forcing Congress to enact a law that overturns the ridiculous and unconstitutional policy that automatically grants citizenship to any child born within the borders of the U.S. regardless of the legal status of that child’s parents – is an absolutely critical step in ending this insidious method of undermining our borders and our national sovereignty!

The PewHispanicCenter estimates are that approximately 340,000 babies (roughly the population of St. Louis!) are born each year to illegal aliens in the United States.  Add in a mother and (sometimes) a father, run those numbers out over time, and you will begin to sense just how serious a part of the illegal immigration crisis the phenomenon of anchor babies are!

Then also consider the social costs (health care and education, for starters) that financially strapped state and local governments are forced to spend to support these children, whose mothers are frequently indigent and unemployed.

So you see, this is not a minor problem.  In fact, it is a crisis of enormous proportions for our nation!

My good friend Congressman Steve King (R-IA) introduced the Birthright Citizenship Act of 2011 that explicitly rejects it and that makes it clear that “birthright citizenship” does not extend to children whose parents are in this country illegally!

Contrary to the claims of open borders propagandists, we are not trying to overturn the 14th Amendment, we are trying to bring back the original intention of the Amendment. Senator Jacob Howard who wrote the citizenship clause said in 1866 that the Amendment "will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens."

For sure, Congressman King's measure will be fought tooth and nail by the radical Hispanic lobby and  Barack Obama.  But this is a fight worth having…especially since if this legislation is passed, it will be immediately challenged by our opponents and end up on a fast-track to the U.S. Supreme Court.  Strict constructionist on the court like Judge Scalia have expressed openness to restoring the original intent of the Amendment.

Act Now to help close the anchor baby loophole.  Click here for a list of co-sponsors to Steve King's Birthright Citizenship Act.  Then,  Call your congressman [call (202) 224-3121 for the Capitol Hill Operator at or click here for their direct line.]  If he is a co-sponsor, thank him for his leadership in the fight against illegal immigration.  If not, demand that he support upholding the true meaning of our constitution and stop encouraging illegal aliens to exploit our system.

We are now launching a new Team America effort to end automatic citizenship rights for the children of illegal aliens, which, like enforcing the laws against hiring illegal aliens, will suddenly make illegally crossing our borders far less attractive to potential illegal aliens!  We are working both with our allies in Washington, but also with leaders on the state level like Russell Pearce of Arizona who are introducing state initiatives to tackle birthright citizenship.

To carry our work forward, we need you to give your financial support to Team America

Please contribute to Team America today.   Your support will help us get the word out about the seriousness of the “anchor baby” crisis…and to build the grassroots support that will be needed for this historic effort.

Thanks and keep up the fight.

Your Friend,

 Tom Tancredo

TFIR does not, on the basis of information we receive, think that the border is more secure.  We think the situation is worse than ever. Certainly the situation in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico must make Texans more and more concerned about their safety.. Laredo, TX is a ghost town!  READ BELOW:

DHS Says Border is More Secure Than Ever; Doesn't Mean More Can't Be Done

By Chris Chmielenski, Friday, February 4, 2011, 1:00 AM EST

Like most parents across the nation, the recent snow gave my kids a few extra days off of school. With frigid temperatures and ice covered roads and sidewalks, they spent most of their time inside, which in turn led to messy bedrooms.

After three snow days, just about every toy, including a few hundred Lego pieces, were scattered across my 7-year-old’s bedroom floor. I asked him to clean his room, and after some arguing and procrastination, he spent a good 30 minutes cleaning up most of the Legos, but the floor was still covered with Matchbox cars, magnetix, and other things.

When I asked him to pick up the rest of the toys, he proudly responded, “but my room is cleaner that it was before!”

Earlier this week, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano made a similar statement when she delivered a speech at the University of Texas-El Paso. She said the border was more safe and secure than it has ever been. Later in the day, DHS issued a follow-up press release detailing the department's efforts with words like “quintupled”, “expanded”, and “seized”.

Back to my son’s room ... he did pick up a few hundred Lego pieces, but that didn’t mean that his room was clean and more work couldn’t be done. Sec. Napolitano continues to use the same logical argument of my 7-year-old, and the pro-amnesty groups pounce on it in their support for "comprehensive immigration reform."

No one doubts the Secretary’s effort to secure the border. Her insistence that the border is more secure now than it has ever been may be statistically accurate, but that doesn’t mean “Mission Accomplished.” Throwing more money and more border patrol agents at the problem may change the statistics, but it will never end the constant flow of illegal border crossings.

This is why E-Verify is so important. On Thursday, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that Mexico's Ambassador Arturo Sarukhan said Georgia's proposed E-Verify legislation is "poisoning" relations between the United States and Mexico. He emphasized the point that people cross the border illegally for jobs.

The Mexican Ambassador is 100% correct. Illegal aliens come here mainly for the jobs, and until the United States can put an end to the jobs magnet, illegal border crossings will continue.

By requiring E-Verify for all employers, the U.S. can slow, if not completely eliminate, foreign workers from crossing the border illegally. And once that's done, the Border Patrol can concentrate its efforts solely on the other border issues instead of diverting resources and manpower to stopping the flow of foreign workers.

Only then, can Sec. Napolitano say with confidence that the border is completely safe and secure.
